#A love story

Hey!

So I have this weird thing where I'm super conceited and think people like knowing things about me. Enough so that I write a blog. About my life. But then people validate my feelings by reading it. So theres that.

I'm going to tell you something so super cool that not a lot of people know about me.

May 14th is my anniversary.

The anniversary of the declaration of my love.

There's this Guy. He's really cool and stuff. The coolest actually. He's the love of my life. No, seriously. He's perfect. He always builds me up, and catches me when I fall. He steers me in the right direction, and holds my hand when I need it. He's so strong. He's carried my guilt and shame, my fears, anxieties, hurts, and worries. Most importantly He loves me. He loves me for all that I am. Even with all my flaws, and shortcomings, and mistakes. Even when I'm an asshole. He just says "Hey, it's ok. People mess up sometimes. I still love you. And I'll always forgive you as long as you love me back."

Awesome, right?! He's the best. Ever. The End. So I did what any sane person would do.

I locked it down.

On a warm [I think it was actually rainy that day] spring evening, much like the one I will experience tonight, I stood up in front of my family and friends and hundreds of strangers and said "Hi everyone, my name is Mariah and I love this Super Cool Awesome Guy. I know you know Him. His name is Jesus. He's made a nice little home in my heart and I love that He lives there. He makes me a better person, and He makes me feel worth it, and also we have a pretty stellar relationship. And I'm gonna take a little dip in this water and make Jesus/Mariah Soup because I love Him so much. And I want everyone else to know how much I love Him. Also - here's a quote from the bible that I live my life by. The End."

Then I got dunked for Jesus.

Also there was crying and stuff.

AND because My Jesus loves me SO MUCH He gave me a Shelby to get dunked with me!

So we share an anniversary! It's also the annual celebration of the day she went from being a fetus to a neonate [that's actually the grossest thing I've ever said], so HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELBY!

And Shelby and I lived happily ever after with our forever friend, Jesus. [Even though baptism does not = salvation. We learned that in baptizing school.]

The End!!!!!!!!

[side note: I think that is the most times I have written "The End" in one post. Even though this post is kind of about new beginnings. I'm weird.]

#Never gonna give you up

Jan 4:Day 4 - wandered around Salmon arm with my FBF and my sisters.

Conversations with the best friend:

Jan 5:Day 5 - Came home. Ate half of a Pizza Hut pizza. Probably the reason I felt sick for the next 24 hours. #soberjanuary #sogross

"We're just on different wavelengths..."
"RIAAHHH!"
"He made rape jokes all night...it was weird.."
"Really? That is weird."
"Ya. Even after I told him it's like my biggest fear, ever."
"Obviously he doesn't have experience hanging out with girls."
"He says he does. Like he's had girlfriends before and stuff."
"Well....were they normal girls, or girls who think rape is funny?"

That is the reason I love you the most.

Jan 6:Day 6 - Went shopping with K Ruhls. Finally bought the grey Chucks I've been talking about forever! #soberjanuary #impulsebuyer

"Did you put water in the bucket?"
"No.....how do you do that?"

That is reason I am the only one who loves you the most..

Jan 7:Day 7 - first Saturday of the year. Saw Sheebs, worked, then went out for pub food and iced tea. #soberjanuary

"Stop farting in my bed or I'm gonna come over there and cuddle you!!"
"Hey! It's my half of the bed!!"
"It's my whole bed!!"
"Well..you did it first!!"

That is the reason boys don't love us..

Jan 8:Day 8 - Lazy churchy and junkfoody day. #soberjanuary #iloveicecream

"I always had a crush on the black one. And kinda the red one."
"Hey! There's a green one too! He's the hottest!"
"Ew. No. He is gross."
"Hahah I think he's hot."
"I lied. I wanna sit on his beautiful face."

That is the reason we watch power rangers.

Jan 9:Day 9 - First day back at school means a night of homework and organization (because I was not a good enough student to do it before the semester started..) #soberjanuary #immabeanurse

"Then she blew him a kiss!"
"I would have been like: HEY! That's super rude! Stop loving your boyfriend! Don't you know I'm alone?!"

That is the reason we have no other friends.

#I Will Hold Your Hand

I know this sucks.

I don't know how you're feeling. But I know it sucks.

Tomorrow will be better. It might not be easier, it might actually be harder. But you learned from today. You learned from the experiences, you learned how to deal with how you're feeling, you learned how to cope with life. Even just a little bit.

I will be there. I will hold your hand. I will laugh with you, cry with you, scream with you, be there for you. Always. No matter what. Because you laughed with me, cried with me, screamed with me, and were there for me. I have 2 biological sisters. You have zero. So let me show you that this is what sisters do. We won't always get along, we might disagree and bicker and fight. But at the end of the day I will answer your 3 AM phone call. I will drive into the middle of no where to be with you. I will search for a solution to your problems with you. I will stand by you. That's what sisters do.

Please remember you are NOT alone. And even if I fail to pull through He will be there. And He loves you so much. Worship Him. Tell Him you love Him. Remember that He is the Creator of Everything. The Prince of Peace. The Almighty Father.  It seems backwards to worship now. But it's not. Worship Him.
And realize He is so much bigger than what is happening.
His love never fails.

#A Best Friend Is For Life

SO there's this girl. She's an awesome girl. We're besties. She thinks like me, talks like me, and acts like me. It's like hanging out with myself all day! Except way cooler because if it was just myself I would be a loser. And I wouldn't be hanging out with her. She has pulled me out of some pretty dark places, and is super supportive in all of the decisions I make. Sometimes we get hit on by stinky fat guys and they say inappropriate things. And all we have to do is look at each other to know what the other is thinking. She's pretty much the bestest ever. Her name is Shelby. She goes by Sheebs on this blog. And she was sweet enough to do a guest post for my blog today!

family
fam-il-ie
two or more people who share goals and values, have long-term commitments to one another

when i think of the word family, i probably have a very different definition than a lot of people. family to you may be the people you live with. the people you call your parents, your brothers and sisters, your relatives. the people you are blood related to. not saying i don’t consider my family to be those people, but my definition is much much broader. family is people having a commitment to each other
mariah has shared with me that she is nervous for our mission trip to belarus which we leave for in 29 sleeps (eep!!!). she is worried about flying/traveling/spending time away from her family. she doesn’t go on trips without them
well maryerye (just a heads up, i am the only one allowed to call her this), i have told you this many times, but here is another reminder- you are not traveling without family, because we are family. family by definition is two or more people who share goals and values and who are committed to each other. we are two or more people – sometimes i think the entire staff at our wing place is included in our family too. we share a brain- therefore we share goals and values. we both want to travel, we want to experience the world. we want to further ourselves spiritually and relationshiply. we want husbands with accents who become best friends and then it will be a best friend-marriage square. but not in the weird polygamy way, just in the fun best friend way.  we share a common goal of eventually being roomies, and of getting a dog and naming it something ridiculous. we genuinely want to see each other succeed and grow.  we share values and also, we care and love each other like crazy. we are committed to this friendship. since we have known each other we have been through hell and back… 54 times. if that isn’t family i really don’t know what is. so don’t worry rye- you are travelling with family. we are sisters for life
God has changed my definition of family. blood really doesn’t mean much, family are the people who you need in your life and who you care about most. He has brought so many people into my world over the last year who i wouldn’t even consider not calling them family. a girl who became my instant best friend/sister. a woman who has taken me in as one of her own and i know she loves me, and i love her muchly. a group of friends who are insanely genuine and loving. a dad who gives me 80 hugs a day and tells me he cares for me a lot. a church that is strong and thriving. blood is not the center of true family. i really truly believe that He is the center. God is the maker of family. we all fall under the Jesus-umbrella-of-family.
i like living under the Jesus-umbrella
if you want to read more of my randomness check me out at fansiepants.blogspot.com (yep i totally just plugged my blog). thanks maryerye for letting me guest post, it has been wonderful and charming.

#A Day In The Life

This is mostly what my weekend consisted of:

work
friends
skype dates
more friends
2 bbq'd meals
shopping
movies with mama
being hit in the face
being compared to mustard
becoming an asian sidekick (sensation?)
playing "get to know Shelby"
watching the weirdest movie ever invented...then being scared to walk to my car alone
quelf
planning some adventures
catching up on hellcats and how I met your mother
being called "babe" by Rosi
prepping for Belarus
dancing around my house
teaching 7 year old boys about Jesus
attempting to bring my poor dead bamboo back to life
cleaning my car

yep. that's pretty much my life. and I wouldn't want it any other way.

#Deep Breathing

Yesterday was not a complete write off.

There was some good stuff in there too.

I didn't even study a little bit for my exam today. Oh well. (this is a good thing...kinda. It would have been boring, however I'm pretty unprepared for today...)

I layed in bed and cried with my bestie.*

That was surprisingly refreshing.

I also bought a pretty new bible. Even though my newest one was supposed to be NLT or ESV or NKJV or a study bible, I just bought another NIV. It was too pretty to pass up. I like pretty things!

Then I prayed for an uber long time. And I felt lots better. And I wrote in my brand new prayer journal. And I cried a little more. That also made me feel lots better.

Crying is good, sometimes. In moderation, I think.

So now to take on today.

Today has the potential to be terrible.heartbreaking.soulcrushing.

It also has the potential to be relieving.renewing.refreshing.

I'm putting my faith in You. I love You, always.

"I will hold tight to the hand of Him, who's love will comfort me! And when my hope is gone and I've been wounded in the battle. He is all the strength I will ever need. He will carry me!" - Mark Shultz

*I'm aware layed isn't a word. Deal with it.

#What's A Little Wine Between Friends?

I have a friend. Her name is Shelby. And this is the tale of the time we became boozers.

It started out innocently enough, we were going to Tim Horton's for a tea and some lady time. Most of the conversation went like this

Shelby: "I love Jesus"
Mariah: "I love Jesus as well"

We were continuing to enjoy each other's enchanting company when Shelby said

"I'm thinking about going to get a bottle of wine...is that terrible?"

And I said

"Ummm no. The liquor store is right there, let's go! I have lots of papers and zero wine left."

And the conversation continued a little like this:

Mariah:"Let's go! I didn't win anything on this roll up the rim :("
Shelby:"What time is it?"
Mariah:"Booze o'clock"
I actually made the last part up. Kind of. I didn't win on my roll up the rim :(

So we walked next door to the liquor store and the conversation ACTUALLY went like this

Mariah: "Ohhh vodka's on sale!"
Shelby: "Mariah, it's Monday"
Mariah: "Ummmm I'm a boozer, incase you didn't know"
Shelby: "I like cheap champagne"
Mariah: "I'm drunk all the time, even right now"
Shelby: "I could barely tell, you only swerved a little bit when we drove here"
Mariah: "Let's just get wine"

And so off we went to the wine section,

Mariah: "Have you ever had blush wine? It's delish!"
Shelby: "Yeah, I love it."
Sales Clerk: "Don't let anybody talk you out of getting cheap bubbly!"
Shelby: "Thank you! TWIST CAP ON MY WINE?! I'm sold, I'm so classy!"
Mariah: "I want a twist cap too!"
Sales Clerk: "We have more blush wine's over here, oh none  have twist caps."
Shelby: "That is not necessary"
Mariah:"I want Barefoot."
Shelby: "Me too. Mariah don't drink and drive"
Mariah: "I was actually planning on cracking this bottle on the way home"
-insert nervous sales clerk laughter-

And so away we went, stripped of our dignity but with hands full of twist cap wines.

I love you Sheebs!
